The interest of this work will be focused on the exploration of the determinants of boththe Biased Technological Change direction and intensity. Additionally, there are a numberof linkages that are worth to explore, such as the connection between the bias intensity (asa measure of adaptive practices) and the patenting activities (as proxy of general purposetechnological shifts). Furthermore, the relation of the bias with factor output elasticities asdeterminants of coherence in the adaptation processes will be estimated and discussed inorder to address the mechanisms underlying diverse specialization patterns and the pathdependentnature of the local systems.
