Resumen:
This work is developed as a contribution on the study of productivity growth using TotalFactor Productivity (TFP) to asses technological change in broad periods of time. Makinguse of the Biased Technological Change concept, the paper will be focused on conceptualand empirical aspects of the locally embedded adaptive processes that take place when atechnological shock occur. Particularly, this work carries for the first time a sector levelanalysis using the mentioned methodology. The main objectives of this paper are, on the first place, to use of the Biased TechnologicalChange (BTC) concept to explain long-term production profiles. Second, to show thedynamics of the BTC at a sectoral level, which is an original contribution to the existentliterature. Third, to discuss the idea of the BTC directionality, considering the informationthat a sector level analysis incorporates. Finally, to explore the determinants of the BTCrelated with the technological intensity of each economy.
