Resumen:
We present in this work the results of a magnetotelluric (MT) survey carried out between the Chaco-Paraná and Paraná basins in the provinces of Corrientes and Misiones, north-eastern Argentina (Figure 1a), aiming to characterize properties of the lithosphere in the area. The South American continent was formed by a series of collisions and breakups between several tectonic units along its evolution (Almeida et al., 2000). Most of the continent is nowadays covered by sedimentary basins, so that direct characterization of these tectonic units to assess their limits, nature and evolutive processes, is dependent upon wells and outcrops. In our study area these alternatives are not enough, there are few wells in the region that reached the basement and, specifically in the Chaco-Paraná basin, a combination of low altitudes (
