Treatment wetlands (TWs) have been used in the treatment of pulp and paper mill wastewater (Abira, 2008; Choudhary, 2011), but there are not cases of TW for the depuration of the effluent of recycled paper industry.The effluent of a factory of moulded recycled fibres packaging products must be treated to reach a suitable quality to be reused in the production process. The aim of this study was to compare the efficiency of a free water surface flow wetland (FWSW) a horizontal subsurface flow wetland (HSSFW) at a pilot scale for the treatment of the effluent of factory of recycled paper products. These wetlands were efficient in the removal of COD, BOD, and solids, among other parameters.
