Resumen:
In this work the controllability of batch processes is approached by the development of techniques for the calculation of controllable sets. Since end-product quality depends on the final state to be reached, a natural way to check controllability in batch units is verifying that its nominal trajectory belongs to the controllable set of a suitable final state. The stability margin is defined as a measure of the deviation of the trajectory from the controllable set centroid. This margin informs about the degree of robustness of the nominal trajectory by itself, independent of the controller to be used.
