Resumen:
We report on the current status of the construction of an astronomicalfa- cility at Cordón Macón (4660 m.a.s.l.) in SaltaProvince, Argentina. This project is the continuation of more than fiveyears of site testing carried on by IATE and ESO at this site.Currently, the project is being suported by the Salta ProvinceGovernment and the MINCyT. Even though the character- istics of theinstrument to be located at Macón are not completely defined yet,the construction of an 8 metres diameter dome is currently under con-struction. This dome will have the capability of hosting a 1-2 mreflector telescope.
