Study of the absorption of gamma-rays in the binary system SS433

We study the absorption of gamma-rays that could be produced in the inner region of the X-ray binary system SS433. We calculate the optical depth due to soft photons coming from the companion star and from the extended disk wind from the supercritical accretion disk. Interactions with star matter and with that of the extended disk are also found to cause significant absorption of gamma-rays.We discuss the observability of the predicted absorption signatures with instruments such as VERITAS, MAGIC II, and GLAST.
