Resumen:
The Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite Nadir Mapper (OMPS-NM) is a hyperspectral ultraviolet spectrometer that measures solar and earthshine spectra onboard the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) and NOAA-20 satellites. This study presents retrievals of bromine monoxide (BrO) from the OMPS-NM on Suomi NPP, which has been building a measurement record since its launch in October 2011. The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) algorithm was used to construct a 10-year, global BrO dataset from 2012 to 2021. Bromine compounds play important roles in stratospheric O3 destruction and tropospheric oxidation capacity. For investigations of BrO variabilities in the separate layers, the OMPS-NM product comprises total, stratospheric, and tropospheric columns. Inter-comparisons of OMPS-NM and ground-based observations demonstrate the consistency between the datasets. The long-term BrO observations from OMPS-NM are expected to contribute to a better understanding of halogen chemistry in the stratosphere and troposphere.
