In exceptional cases of rights violations and violence and maltreatment, children can be separated from theirbiological families and placed into one of the two modalities of alternative care: institutional care and fostercare (UNICEF, 2019). Foster care implies a family that becomes responsible, only for a period of time, for the careof a child without mediating a filial tie (Luna, 2001).
