Magnetocaloric effect of La0.6Sr0.4CoO3 nanoparticles

The study of the magnetocaloric effect (MCE) is defined as an isothermal change inmagnetic entropy [1]. In this work we study the MCE, the structural, morphological andmagnetic characterization of La0,6Sr0,4CoO3 (LSCO) nanostructured powders.Samples were synthesized by the pore wetting method, using polycarbonatemembranes with pores of 200nm (C2) and 800nm (C8) and treated with temperaturesat 800°C (T1) and 1000°C (T2), obtaining C2T1, C2T2, C8T1 and C8T2 samples. Allsamples shown magnetic saturation larger than 11,5 𝑒𝑚𝑢/𝑔 and coercive fields lessthan 2500 Oe. The MCE values was obtained from the dependence of the entropychange (ΔS) with temperature. The maximum ΔS values were observed close tothe transition temperature in all cases. The values of obtained for C2T1, C8T1, C2T2and C8T2 was 0.38 J⁄𝑘𝑔⁄𝐾, 0.32 J⁄𝑘𝑔⁄𝐾, 0.77 J⁄𝑘𝑔⁄𝐾 , 1.13 J⁄𝑘𝑔⁄𝐾 respectively
