1996: Argentina allows the cultivation of a transgenic soybean variety which is resistant to the active ingredient, glyphosate, of a herbicide marketed as Round Up Ready by Monsanto. This model has generated a great deal of social resistance. Since then, expansion the agricultural frontier and successful modernization.
