Resumen:
We discuss the importance of quiescent hydrogen burning in white dwarfs with low metallicity progenitors. These sequences have been computed for progenitor masses ranging from 0.8 M to 2.5 M and for four different metallicity progenitors:,,, . Our white dwarf sequences have been computed by performing full evolutionary calculations of their progenitors previous evolution. In contrast with the standard theory of white dwarf evolution, our calculations show that for, nuclear burning becomes the most important energy source in the white dwarf at low luminosities. This energy source has a significant impact on white dwarf cooling times.
