Resumen:
This work proposes a MatLab script as a calculation tool to correctly characterize lightning, modelling and calculating the performance of power distribution lines against lightning. The electrical system is modelled and simulated to determine the performance of overhead linesconsidering different combinations of structures and grounding commonly used by electric power concessionaires. For verification and veracity, the results obtained are contrasted with the calculations made in IEEE Std.1410-2010. The results show the correct operation of the algorithm for estimating the performance of the distribution overhead lines.
