Resumen:
In Art as Experience Dewey depicts the links between art, communication and knowledge. He maintains that art is the most effective form of communication (Dewey 1934, LW 10; Crick, 2004), being a particular mode of knowledge. Such knowledge, however, should not be assimilated to scientific or philosophical knowledge, because it is qualitatively diverse (Dewey 1934, LW 10; Ryder, 2011). Within this framework, this work explores these issues of Dewey's argument, attempting to clarify how the links among these elements -art, knowledge and communication- work. The presentation is divided into three parts: first, whether or not art is a form of knowledge; second, if it is knowledge, what kind of knowledge it is; and in the third place, how this knowledge is transmitted/communicated through works of art.
