Resumen:
The Mycobacterium causative agent of tuberculosis (TB), is an extremely successful intracellular pathogen, able to proliferate inside thephagosomes of activated macrophages, where it is exposed to cytotoxic peroxides. Mt expresses a catalase-peroxidase heme peroxidase and five peroxiredoxins (Prx). Two of these were classified as bacterioferritin comigratory proteins (MtBcpB and MtBcp), but its function as peroxidases has not been experimentally tested. In this work, we propose to perform a functional and physicochemical characterization of MtBcpB.
