Resumen:
The province of Santa Fe generates approximately 7.5% of the Gross Domestic Product of the Argentine Republic and is the second Argentine province by level of exports, combining a relatively diverse productive structure with an export pattern focused on agricultural origin and primary product. Based on this work, part of the approach proposed by Ecological Economics and in particular the concept of socioeconomic metabolism to apply and determine the ?hidden? flows of material that are opaque due to the monetization of variables from an economy. This work studies foreign trade in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina, as a result of using the information sources derived from the reports of the Provincial Institute of Statistics and Censuses (IPEC), and it analyzes and quantifies the socioeconomic metabolism derived from international trade combining broad analyzes (2000-2019) with a detailed analysis for 2018 exports and imports of other countries. Then the recent trends of the trade balance in the period 2000-2019 are analised focusing on the main commercial and social countries of the province of Santa Fe. This allows us to see that the province of Santa Fe is a source of material for the rest of the world with a low USD / Tn ratio, obtaining at certain times an important exchange balance, but in certain periods of The foreign exchange balance is scarce with a volume Physical growth given the high USD / Tn ratios of imports.
