Resumen:
The interplay of both waterfowl herbivory and Ulva expansa green tides on Zostera marina (eelgrass) meadows was assessed with cages in San Quintin Bay, a coastal lagoon subjected to strong upwelling fertilization effects. Brant herbivory negative effects on eelgrass biomass and cover were strong in the intertidal. Conversely, Ulva had positive effects on eelgrass recovery after black brants leave San Quintin Bay at the end of the wintering season. Likely, Ulva promotes eelgrass growth and biomass recover via a fertilization effect.
