Resumen:
In this chapter we will postulate the relevance of two early sources regarding Herodias? association with Diana and Minerva in late medieval texts about witchcraft. We will try to demonstrate: 1) that in Juvencus? epic poem (4th century) Herodias? association with the devil and Minerva was already established; and 2) that Dracontius (5th century) recovered in his Medea this previous association and linked it with the goddess Diana. Once verified both hypotheses, we will recapitulate our partial conclusions to formulate some brief critical thoughts about the hermeneutical potential of Dracontius? formal and semantic intertextual strategies.
