Resumen:
Political economy is about the sources of political power and its uses for economic ends. As power distribution varies around the globe, so does economic development and its approach to it. This organizational boundary-setting left behind a good deal of the way debates and paradigms evolved in other areas of the world. In this sense, the field in the Global South has been caught between North?South and Western?non-Western traditions, emerging with questions, problems, and challenges different from those of European and North American scholars. Different approaches to IPE have been developed beyond this classical divisions introducing new theoretical frameworks, concepts and methods. Some have standing traditions and developed based on situated and local ideas and thinking, showing that IPE has different birthmarks. This chapter aims to bring the focus on IPE research agenda beyond the west analyzing how the field develops, addresses agents, approaches and debates in Africa, China and Latin America.
