The arrival of Donald Trump to the White House generated many debates about the future of American foreign policy and, especially, about whether or not this country will consolidate its global and regional power. In particular, this chapter addresses the question of the current state and future of U.S. Empire in Argentina. In other words, how can we analyze U.S. global power and influence in Argentina under the Trump Administration? Is U.S. global power and influence increasing or diminishing in the region? Are there ideological, economic, military, and political dimensions to power and influence under Trump? Finally, what might come after Trump, regarding U.S.?Argentina relations? We argue that the Trump administration has been able to maintain and even increase the political, economic, military, and judicial influence on Argentina. Nevertheless, that influence cannot be evaluated without considering the Macri administration?s willingness to increase Argentine dependency on not only the U.S., but other countries as well. Most importantly, the Macri administration?s ideological predisposition towards Washington faces the need to maintain Chinese investments and financial support, generating disputes between Trump and Xi Jinping and adversely affecting Argentine foreign policy.
