>A condition of systemic oxidative stress, determined in red blood cells by SOD and catalase activities, glutahione content and hydroperoxide-induced chemiluminescence and in plasma by TRAP capacity, was identified in patients of Alzheimer?s (AD) and Parkinson (PD) diseases and in vascular dementia (VD) [1-3]. Peripheral markers, likely reflecting neuronal conditions in red blood cells and plasma, might be used to control the clinical treatments and the evolution of patients in the mentioned neurological disorders.
