Resumen:
The objective of this article is to evaluate the differential concentrations of motives and the changes in animal representations along time, in the context of the populational dynamic proposed for southern Patagonia. The distribution of animal rock art motives is based upon the analysis of four distinct basins in the region: 1) the temporary drainage systems of the Blanco, Rojo and Del Pescado creeks, in northern Central Plateau, 2) the Río Seco basin in southern Central Plateau, 3) the Río Pinturas basin and its tributaries and 4) Lago Strobel Plateau. The distributions are analyzed through the calculation of three statystical measures using geographic information systems (GIS): 1) central tendency, 2) dispertion and 3) spatial orientation. Key words: animal figures, peopling of Patagonia, Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
