In this contribution, we focus on the Chilean-Pampean flat-slab, analyzing the thermal and lithospheric structure, which remains to date poorly assessed. Main characteristics of this setting are the absence of arc volcanism in the last 4?2 Ma, the increase of intraplate seismicity with respect to neighbor regions, the widespread basement foreland deformation, and dynamic subsidence at the leading edge of the flat segment.
