Resumen:
In this work we have demonstrated that M. pyrifera and U. pinnatifida biomasses are great adsorbents for RB5 dye mainly at very low pH value, reaching maximum adsorption capacity of 26.3 and 12.6 mg g-1, respectively. The adsorption kinetics followed pseudo second order with combined influence of external mass transfer in the rate determining step. The equilibrium data fitted well with Langmuir adsorption model obeying monolayer adsorption. Not only RB5 could be easily recovered but also the biomasses could be repeatedly used after desorption with NaOH solution at pH higher than 12.
