Resumen:
The Salado River basin (Santa Fe, Argentina) receives important imputs of Chromium mainly from tannery industies, which use this heavy metal as leather tanning agent. Chromium is higly toxic to the aquatic biota, but no study has been carried out to analyze if it causes morfological alterations in freshwater organisms. The aim of the present study was to analyze through SEM, Chlorella sp. and Daphnia magna samples exposed to three different concentrations of Chromium VI (150, 280 and 350 mg/L), during 24 and 48 hs respectively with the objective to evaluate possible mofological alterations produced by the toxic. Chlorella sp. was a more adecuate biological model than D. magna to evaluate through SEM morfological alterations caused by the exposure to Chromium VI.
