Resumen:
EVALUACIÓN DEL EXTRACTO PROTEICO DE CALAMAR EN LA NUTRICIÓN DEL LANGOSTINO ARGENTINO PLEOTICUS MUELLERI BATE (DECAPODA, PENAEOIDEA). ABSTRACT A study of the dietary effect of different levels of the squid protein fraction was conducted on Argentine red shrimp Pleoticus muelleri. A diet containing free-vitamin casein as the main protein source was used as control. The others diets were designed by replacing part of the casein with the squid protein fraction (2.5%; 5% and 10%). No significant differences occurred among shrimps fed the different dietary treatments respecting to weight gain or survival (p<0.05). Histological results yielded differences among hepatopancreas of individuals fed with different diets. These results suggest an effect of squid extract on morphology of the hepatopancreas cells, but they do not affect growth and survival. This indicates that histological criteria constitute a practical mean for the preliminary assessment of the acceptability and nutritional value of diets for the Argentine red shrimp Pleoticus muelleri.
