Resumen:
This is a brief study of the built environment of the Welsh Colony in the Patagonian Andes. It starts by analyzing the relationship between the economic activities carried out by the colonists and the related settlement patterns in the Cwn Hyfryd valley. Regarding the actual dwellings erected by the settlers, a series of material characteristics are dealt with in connection with the social and cultural context of  this particular colony. Both the heterogeneous origin of the colonists and the rich environment of the Andean valleys is reflected by vernacular domestic architecture of the area and makes it different from that of the Welsh colony in the Chubut valley.
