This chapter analyzes the performance of a competition authority (CA) in controlling mergersand acquisitions (M&A) in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico. The methodologyconsists of a statistical analysis of M&A cases evaluated from 1999 to 2019. The chapteralso compares legislation in those countries, helping to understand the implication ofdifferent M&A control designs in the authority´s performance. We found a similarity in thedecision scheme of all the CAs.
