Resumen:
The environment is facing critical issues around how we mitigate anthropogenic and natural phenomena impacts on environmental and ecosystem health while preserving environmental quality. Characterizing and assessing risk will be determined largely by the ability to identify and detect predictive indicators of stressor exposure and adverse effect. The use of  environmental biomarkers is a revolutionary approach to identify these indicators. While still not widely used, efforts to link and integrate environmental biomarkers with causal exposures and adverse outcome promise to provide more accurate and complete information to analysts supporting decision and policy makers who must manage risk.
