Resumen:
This chapter has a double objective. First, it presents the main characteristics of theArgentine system concerning the type of educational offering and trajectories comparedto other Latin American countries. In that section, the main trends and challengesfor secondary education are discussed and characterized. Secondly, itinvestigates the differences in school experience according to the type of educationalinstitution, the reasons behind school selection, and their association with thedynamics of inequality. In this way, we explore how inequality is processed inArgentina, emphasizing its interrelation and multidimensionality when consideringthe type of educational offering and the reasons for choosing the institutions wherethey study. The chapter thus provides elements for the more subtle forms of constructionof differences that become inequalities. For the presentation of the analysis,we retrieved data from a research project carried out during the context of thepandemic that involved a data triangulation strategy with the application of a survey, focus groups, and interviews carried out with students from secondary schools inthe City of Buenos Aires.
