Resumen:
Two series of artificially engineered manganite-based superlattices were grown to study the influence of biaxial induced strain and structural disorder on the physical properties of multiferroic multilayers. Stress does not substantially affect the magnetic properties of these systems. However, both strain and structural disorder can significantly affect the transport properties of multilayered systems, increasing the localization of the current carriers. Important interface effects can be achieved by tuning the strain and disorder in the interfaces, giving place to new properties. These results help to understand further the role of interface effects in developing multiferroic devices with new functionalities.
