Resumen:
Quality of life improvement is an international challenge at different levels of management aimed at making decisions. However, the emergence of quality of life as a concept and the concern for its systematic and scientific evaluation is relatively recent. In the 60s, the widespread concern about the consequences of a deteriorating quality of life originated in different areas drove the need to measure well-being through objective data. That is why, at the beginning, research on quality of life was associated with the ?movement of Social Indicators?. From the 90s on, international conferences on quality of life are held around the world, organized by the International Society for Quality of Life Studies (ISQOLS). Nowadays, this concept is transverse and is used in different disciplines that highlight the importance of including the topic of quality of life on the political agenda. This is demonstrated by the studies included in the book edited by Filomena Maggino, entitled ?A New Research Agenda for Improvements in Quality of Life?, which sets out some of the papers presented in the XI ISQOLS Conference, held in Venice, Italy, organized by the Italian Association for Quality of Life Studies. The papers displayed in the book represent an evidence of the concerns reflected in the Conference.
