Resumen:
Almost all neonatologists surveyed would resuscitate infants with trisomy 21 while half of them would resuscitate infants with trisomy 18 and 13. A few decades ago the treatment of children with Down syndrome changed dramatically. Are we witnessing the evolution of a paradigm shift regarding infants with trisomy 18 and 13? It is important to continue to explore the opinions of not only neonatologists but also parents and other stakeholders worldwide. Although there seems to progress in the management and treatment of infants with trisomy 18 and 13, it is nevertheless imperative to keep improving the decision-making process with prudence, allowing for individuality and different value sets while still trying to avoid therapeutic obstinacy.
