Resumen:
A new, simple, and fast electrochemical (EC) method has beendeveloped to determine the release profile of piroxicam, a nonsteroidalanti-inflammatory drug, loaded in a drug deliverysystem based on nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs). For thefirst time, the samples were analyzed by using square wavevoltammetry, a sensitive EC technique. The piroxicam EC responsesallow us to propose a model that explains the experimentalresults and to subsequently determine the amount ofdrug loaded into the NLCs formulation as a function of time. Invitro drug release studies showed prolonged drug release (upto 5 days), releasing 60% of the incorporated drug. The proposedmethod is a promising and stable alternative for thestudy of different drug delivery systems.
