Resumen:
We studied the response at short and long-term after feeding of duration of thedigestive cycle and key digestive enzyme activities(proteolytic, amylase, lipase) in hepatopancreas of the osmoregulator crab Neohelice granulata from Mar Chiquita coastal lagoon (Buenos Aires Province, Argentina) upon hyper-regulation and osmoconformation conditions (10 and 35 psu). The results show the ability of this crab to hyper-regulate under different feeding states. Were no significant differences in the pattern of the duration of the digestive cycle between hyper-regulation and osmoconform. However, distinct responses after feeding were observed in the activities of the digestive enzymes studied in relation to osmoregulatory state. In individuals exposed to 35psu, proteolytic activity was higher 8 h and remained constant until 72 h after feeding. At 10psu, this activity was higher at 48 h after feeding than prefeeding. In 35 psu, amylase activity 8 h after feeding was greater than the prefeedingactivity. No differences were observed in the activity of lipase at 35 psu, but at 10psu this activity was lower 1 h after feeding than prefeeding. This work constitutes an original contribution to the knowledge of the physiology of crustaceans and to clarify the possible mechanisms of digestive settings associated with the hyper-regulation.
