Resumen:
Abstract. Fossil assemblages of deep-sea stony corals have been collected in sediment cores and dredges from the northern Argentine Continental Margin. The corals have been taxonomically identified as Flabellum thouarsii and Bathelia candida. Nowadays they are inhabiting the outer shelf and the middle slope off the western South American margin and are often confined to mound-like structures, where B. candida is ecologically very important as bioconstructor. Several branches of B. candida at different stratigraphic levels were dated by 230Th/U and AMS datings. All samples indicate Late Glacial ages. In the cores analysed, B. candida forms parauthochtonous fossil concentrations, open the possibility to explore the presence of Late Glacial deep-sea coral mounds in the northern Argentine Margin.
