Resumen:
The production of antibodies in chicken (IgY) and the extraction of specific IgY from egg yok incresingly attracts the interest of scientific community because of ots predominance in specific antibody production and portencial in new drug and functional food development. Our review is divided in three parts. We try to introduce IgY-technology comprehensively, including theoretical background, practical aspects and use og IgY in basic and applied reserach. In this review, information is given about practical aspects of the technology.  Use of cages units exclusively designed is one of our recommendation for keeping chickens. various factors should be considered in the immunization of hens, e.g. antigen dose, use of adjuvants, mode fo antigen application, interval between immunizations, influence of immunization on egg laying capacity. The characteristics of IgY antibody-titre development is discussed here, comparing with that of IgG. IgY-extraction method is a repiind development field in recent years. Polson´s PEG precipitacion method and water dilution method become more commen and effective in use, therefore they are presented here in detail.
