Gonadotropins and insulin combination is frequently used in porcine oocyte in vitro maturation (IVM), but their individual effects have not been completely studied. We aimed at studying the mechanisms involved in glucose metabolism in the swine COC, analysing gonadotropins and insulin effect on glucose transport and consumption during IVM and their influence on nuclear maturation and sperm penetration. We evaluated the influence of hormones, both separately or combined, on glucose consumption, membrane permeability to glucose fluorescent analogue 6-(N-(7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl)amino)-6-deoxyglucose (6-NBDG), GLUT-4 presence and oocyte maturation rates. Nuclear maturation percentages increased significantly by the addition of gonadotropins and by their combination with insulin (p
