Resumen:
We have investigated the scenario for the hydrogenevolution reaction at stepped silver surfaces in acid solutionsat high overpotentials using a simple kinetic model. Two in-dependent types of sites, at the steps and at the terraces, wereconsidered. The rate constants for the Volmer and Heyrovskyreactions were estimated. Both reactions occur with rate con-stant about two orders of magnitude larger at step sites than atterrace sites. Calculations of the activation energy for thesereacti ons using our theory of ele ctrocatalysis give similarresults.
