Resumen:
Human activities, such as logging, modify the forest structure and the micro-environments of virgin Nothofagus forest. Birds utilise these forests for food, refuge and nesting. The aims of this work were to evaluate changes in the  bird diversity, abundance and specific composition of birds and to analyse their trophic relationships with insect and plant communities in over the development cycle of N. pumilio forests, Sampling was carried out at stations by direct recognition (sight) and indirect recognition (hearing), for four hours following sunrise. The bird diversity and abundance varied during the forest cycle. The number of species did not vary at the end of the forest management cycle, and loss of species was not detected. Relationship between abundance of birds, plants (superior and inferior) and insects exist and are discussed. Mayor studies in bird ecology are necessary to develop silvicultural alternatives, which maintain the original structure of communities and the existent equilibrium with other forest species.
