Resumen:
In: Marhold K (ed.), IAPT/IOPB chromosome data 18. TAXON 63(6): 1388 (edición impresa resumida, ISSN 0040-0262); E6-E8 (online full version, ISSN 1996-8175).Capsicum baccatum var. praetermissum is a wild chili pepper native to central and SE Brazil, and Paraguay. In this study, we applied fluorescence heterochromatic bandings (CMA and C-DAPI) and fluorescent in situ hybridization of Capsicum-derived ribosomal probes, to characterize the chromosome complement of this taxon. These combined cyto-molecular approaches allowed the attainment of a detailed cytological map of C. baccatum var. praetermissum, in that each chromosome can be further classified by means of diverse landmarks. Moreover, cyto-molecular divergence was found between variety praetermissum and the remaining three varieties of C. baccatum. In this sense, our results agree with previous cytological and morphological data which led to propose a specific rank for C. baccatum var. praetermissum.
