Resumen:
The aim of this study was to evaluate in a comparative clinical behavior of the two glass conventional ionomer (Fuji IX and VII) indicated for sealing in terms of retention, marginal adaptation, caries recurrence and cracking. 105 were sealed first permanent molars erupt, in a group of children of both sexes between 5 and 8 years old. The treatment of each tooth, was conducted using a double-blind by a single operator. Retention, presence of caries, marginal discoloration, marginal adaptation and cracking of the treatments were evaluated at 6 and 12 months using the criteria Ryge.Los data were obtained for the first control: Pairs: Retention: Alpha 37, Bravo 2, Charlie: 4; Caries: Alpha 43, Bravo: 0; Marginal Adaptation: Alpha 38, Bravo: 1; Marginal Discoloration: Alpha 39, Bravo: 0, Charlie: 0; cracking: Alpha 39, Bravo: 0. Odd: Retention: Alpha 29, Bravo 4, Charlie: 7; Caries: Alpha 40, Bravo: 0; Marginal Adaptation: Alpha: 34, Bravo: 0; Marginal Discoloration: Alpha: 34, Bravo: 0; Charlie: 0; cracking: Alpha 33, Bravo: 0. For the second control, the results were as follows: Pairs: Retention: Alpha 33, Bravo: 3, Charlie: 9; Caries: Alpha 44, Bravo: 1; Marginal Adaptation: Alpha 33, Bravo: 1; Marginal Discoloration : Alpha: 34, Bravo: 0, Charlie: 0; cracking: Alpha: 34, Bravo: 0. Odd: Retention: Alpha 22, Bravo 4, Charlie: 13, caries: Alpha 40, Bravo: 0; Marginal Adaptation: Alpha 23, Bravo: 1; Marginal Discoloration: Alpha 23, Bravo: 1, Charlie: 0; cracking: Alpha 23, Bravo: 1. The statistical analysis of the results using the Fisher test. The first control showed the following results: retention (p = 0.359), marginal adaptation (p = 0.347) and in the case of caries, marginal discoloration and cracking p are not reported because the results in both materials was the same. The second control included the following results: retention (p = 0.256), marginal adaptation (p = 0.999), caries (p = 0.999), Marginal Discoloration (p = 0.414), cracking (p = 0.414. In the experimental conditions used, results suggest no significant difference in the use of materials Fuji IX and Fuji VII when used as sealants in permanent molars erupt. Keywords: glass ionomer, Pit and fissure sealants, the first permanent molars.
