Resumen:
The goal of this study was to develop an objective prosocial reasoning measure for 7 and 8 year-old children, and to analyze preliminarily its psychometric properties. Following the procedure of Carlo, Eisenberg, and Knight (1992), and maintaining a verbal format, six stories were elaborated and administered to a sample of 45 Argentine children of both genders. Reliability was studied through Cronbach’s alpha and correlation analyses. Means and frequency comparisons were also performed. Although Cronbach’s alphas were relatively low, results concerning differences by age and gender and correlations between different categories of prosocial reasoning show this measure has acceptable construct validity.
