EC50 values for clutch loss were 34 ug/l for parathion and 7.4 mg/l for 2,4-D.4. When hatching occurred, parathion reduced the number of larvae hatched per female, while 2,4-D did not.5. Morphological abnormalities in hatched larvae, such as hidropsy and atrophy of eyes, pleon and dorsal spine, could be noted for both pesticides. While 2,4-D produced a higher global incidence of all of them, at 1 ug/l of parathion hidropsy and atrophy of eyes had a relative higher incidence than the other abnormalities.
