Resumen:
A new species, Isostigma sparsifolium, from central Brazil (State of Goiás) is described and illustrated. I. sparsifolium resembles I. brasiliense by habit; both species are perennial herbs or subshrubs, with stems branched at the base, ascendant, with peduncles erect, involucres bell-shaped, capitula up to 9 mm high and 1.2 cm wide, and the pappus aristae completely hispid. Nevertheless, I. sparsifolium can be distinguished by its leaves pinnatisect distributed along the stem, the stems winged, the peduncles shorter and leafy, and the ray florets white. A key to differentiate the Brazilian species of Isostigma is provided. Key words: Brazil, Asteraceae, Isostigma, Coreopsidinae, Heliantheae.
