Resumen:
Studies on identity and ethnic groups have experienced a significant increase in recent decades. However, connections between researchers from different latitudes do not seem to have developed shared research agendas, and the variety of thematic choices in fields concerning indigenous people are remarkable. The study of instances such as international congresses constitute a key to understand the differences in the modes of institutionalization of disciplines, and as a way to portray professional networks that make them possible. In this paper, we focus on annual meetings held by NAISA (Native American and Indigenous Studies Association) between 2007 and 2012. The essay presents a brief history of its emergence, its main features, the most relevant topics dealt with at such meetings, and their variation as well as the geographical and institutional background of their participants.
