The Influence of Inlet Friction on Boiling Systems Instability

Resumen:
Irreversible losses at the inlet of boiling channels usually increases the stability of the flow. In this paper a comprehensive analysis of this statement is performed, in order to determine under which conditions the mentioned criterion is valid. It is shown that, for channels subjected to an external pressure drop, there is a region where an increase of the inlet friction actually reduces the stability of the system. Analytical expressions can be obtained using a simplified model of boiling flow dynamics based in delay equations.
