Important damage on the crop has been reported since the 1971/72 growing season. Based on the host plant response, at least three biotypes have been identified in Argentina, the last one similar to biotype E from USA  To last the levels of resistance to this biotype 114 lines were evaluated in a greenhouse experiment.
