Suitable conditions for improving laboratory germination for several Prosopis species found in Argentina were investigated. Manual and mechanical threshing methods were compared. Two type of germination pretreatments were applied and compared with untreated controls: mechanical scarification with fine sandpaper on one side of the testa, and soaking in water initially at 80 ºC. Result indicate that either manual or mechanical threshing, along with scarification, improve germination in these species.
