A New Potentially Useful Complex for Lithium Therapies: Dimeric Monoaqua Lithium Isoorotate

Resumen:
Abstract The synthesis and X-ray crystal and molecular structures of a new Li(I) complex of stoichiometry [Li(isoor)H2O]2, where isoor is the monoanion of 5-carboxyuracil (isoorotic acid), are reported. It crystallizes in the monoclinic P21/n space group with Z=2, and a five-fold bipyramidal coordination around the Li(I) was observed for the first time. The electronic, infrared and Raman spectra of the complex are briefly discussed. Its thermal behavior was investigated by means of thermal gravimetry (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). Dissolution studies were also performed in order to test the pharmacological characteristics of the complex.
